The goal of the Primary and Junior Divisions is to inspire a love of learning through a student-centred approach.
Students are challenged to develop critical thinking, research, and organizational skills. The importance of the school-home connection is emphasized as parents and teachers work together as partners. The curriculum comprises Language Arts, Math, Science, French, Social Studies, Vocal Music, Drama, Visual Art, Physical Education, Health, and Technology & Innovation. Math instruction is geared towards building essential skills with an emphasis on conceptual understanding and problem solving.
Our daily reading groups recognize each child’s individual ability. Students work in small groups with a reading specialist teacher to continuously build their reading and comprehension skills at increasing levels of complexity. The guided reading group program continues through Grades 4 and 5, but the focus shifts from learning to read to reading to learn.
