Patrick Coffey Tree Fund

Astrid Jull ’08 is organizing the planting of a tree in Riverdale Park to honour her dear friend and fellow Montcrest alumni, Patrick Coffey ’08, who passed in December.

“As a lot of you know, since Patrick’s passing, I’ve been very passionate about getting a tree planted for him. After lots of thought, I think a tree in Riverdale would be a beautiful place to plant a tree in his memory. It’s a place we grew up together and a place he was still so frequently around during his recent time working at Montcrest. There was a type of tree that really spoke to me on the list of Native Ontario trees to plant in the city, and that was the Kentucky Coffeetree. The name says it all. I want Patrick’s life to be remembered forever and to have a place we can visit for comfort and closure on his death and to honour the impact his life made on all of us.”

Montcrest is facilitating the collection of gifts to support this project. Any donations exceeding the goal of $738 will go to a charity of Patrick’s parents’ choice. In the event City officials do not permit the planting of a tree in Riverdale Park, a tree will be planted on Montcrest’s campus.
